The University is seeking an experienced Information Compliance Officer to join our Information Security and Compliance Team within the Governance and Assurance department.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Information Compliance and Data Protection Officer, the Information Compliance Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the University’s compliance with UK GDPR, Freedom of Information, Records Management and Information Security regulations.
As an Information Compliance Officer, you will:
Manage the team’s caseload of FOIA requests, SARs, and other Information Rights Requests, ensuring statutory deadlines are met and exemptions are applied appropriately.
Investigate potential data protection breaches, liaising with the DPO as required.
Provide expertise advice, guidance, and training to colleagues on FOIA, data protection, general information compliance and good practice in records management.
Support the DPO and the Senior Information Compliance Officers with operational tasks and escalate complex issues.
Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to information compliance activities.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication and writing abilities enabling them to draft clear and concise responses, presentations and guidance. They will demonstrate a proven capacity to manage sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism. With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, they will be able to work both independently and collaborate as part of a team. The successful candidate will exhibit flexibility and prioritisation capabilities, with a commitment to delivering targets efficiently.
This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week) fixed-term post for 3 years; job share arrangements may be considered.
