What difference will you make?
* Build your own personal network and experience
* Contribute to the development of FHALMA’s mission
* Develop new skills and competencies
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with strong communication skills and great ideas about how we can refine our key messages and use the right channels to increase engagement with our key audiences. The role-holder will also need a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to ensure goals are met. We are open to expressions of interest from people with relevant skills and interests at any career stage, including those who have retired or are otherwise not currently in employment. Candidates may have experience as a media, marketing, PR, or PA professional and be interested in applying those skills to a voluntary role in a charity. Indeed, you may, for example, be an archivist, student, or a researcher with some experience of running social media accounts, blogs, or public engagement activities. We are very open to this role being shared.
What will you be doing?
The Communications and Marketing leader will join FHALMA’s Transformation Strategy Group and head up their own task force to support the full communications function. As this is a new role, we would like the individual to take the lead in developing and implementing a communications strategy for FHALMA. They will have some scope to define their portfolio around the following core tasks:
* Reviewing current communications work done by FHALMA and surveying volunteers to inform the development of a communication strategy.
* Taking primary responsibility for implementing the strategy across all our channels, which include our newsletter, website, and social media. This will involve working with other trustees and volunteers such as the newsletter and website editors.
* Keeping up to date through regular attendance at Team meetings and on issues of relevance to the heritage/archives sector.
* Providing comms expertise and advice for projects and initiatives undertaken by FHALMA.
* Working with the Events team to promote the annual Huntley conference, held in February, and other FHALMA or partner events.
We estimate that this role will require, on average, 2.5/3 hours per week and is offered for a one-year commitment. Remote working.
