Description Assistant Finance Analyst – Logistics Finance Team Location: South Elmsall, South Yorkshire This is an exciting opportunity to join Next PLC’s dynamic Logistics Finance team, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the success of our global logistics operations. Based at our South Elmsall site, you’ll be part of a team of 30 finance professionals, focused on Warehouse & Logistics, Stock, and Audit. Next’s logistics operation is integral to our business, spanning 9 Warehouses, 6 Regional Service Centres, and 3 International Hubs across Ireland, Germany, and the Middle East. As part of the finance team, you’ll support management in maintaining an efficient, cost-effective operation worldwide. What You’ll Do: As an Assistant Finance Analyst, you’ll focus on providing reporting and analysis for our Online Distribution operation. Working closely with both UK and international distribution managers, you’ll ensure accuracy in cost management and collaborate with other finance managers to support various operational departments across the business. Your key responsibilities will include: Managing the month-end finance process for online distribution, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Preparing and reviewing Balance Sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies Leading monthly finance review meetings and preparing detailed finance packs Working with the General Manager on monthly finance reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities Providing monthly forecasting updates, including commentary on significant variances Assisting in the bi-annual budget process, explaining variances to previous years' budgets Delivering weekly reports on Online Distribution KPIs and collaborating with operations teams to address any anomalies Handling ad-hoc projects such as investment appraisals, foreign currency forecasts, and onboarding new TP clients About You: We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment. You’ll bring: Proven experience working in a finance or accounts team and be actively pursuing a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and present it in a clear, meaningful way to non-financial colleagues (Advanced Excel skills are a must) Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues across multiple business areas A proactive approach to process improvement and strong attention to detail The ability to quickly absorb and apply new information What We Offer: Once established in the role, we offer flexible working options, allowing you to split your time between the office and home.
