Job overview
We are seeking to appoint either a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) or trainee ACP to work within the Division of Medicine at Walsall Manor Hospital. The Division consists of Speciality Medicine, Long Term Conditions and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) across the acute medical take.
The successful candidate will support the development of ACPs across the Division with a particular focus on Same Day Emergency Care. The Division is currently recruiting qualified ACPs who would oversee Trainee ACPs, which the new post holder will be responsible for in the daily and professional management of.
Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners will be expected to enroll and complete MSc in Advanced Practice in Acute medicine within a four-year period. Alongside this, the successful candidate will work under the supervision of qualified ACPs within the Same Day Emergency Care Department, with opportunities to gain experience within the wider reaches of Medicine as training progresses.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide service seeing, treating and decision making for patients attending the AEC/SDEC service and to train and assist junior members of staff within the department. As a trainee, you will be allocated time to complete University days around your clinical duties.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Qualified ACP post holder will practice independently within the Division of Medicine, providing exemplary patient-centred and evidence-based care to patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. The Trainee ACP will be expected to work in a supernumerary capacity until completion of their first year, where they will undertake an ACAt to assess performance to enable progression through the second year gateway.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Health Care Professional.
* Evidence of a completed ACP MSc or portfolio of practice accredited by HEE/NHSE.
* Teaching and assessing qualification/mentor qualification.
Experience
* Minimum of six years post-baseline qualification with relevant NMC or HCPC body.
* Management, support and leadership of trainee ACPs.
* Evidence of completed research projects.
* Experience in mentorship, supervision, and teaching.
* Knowledge of audit process and procedures.
