The Project Engineer will lead the development and implementation of Capital Projects and provide technical & engineering support on the Marlbrook site (and across the UK chocolate network). To carry out investigation, design, contractor management and engineering project management (including cost and programme management). To ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements during project development, project execution and commissioning, and following hand over to production.
To act as project leader and manage other department members or contract staff (e.g., process / mechanical / electrical / controls) as part of the project team and work closely with Business Development Manager and Site Leadership Team to ensure that engineering solutions support business requirements and fit with the long-term site development plan. This will require a broad range of specialist project management and engineering skills. The role holder will directly manage several projects and be responsible for projects that could have values up to £1MM.
How you will contribute
1. Designs for new NPD and factory development projects are developed, working closely with Manufacturing and BD&E where required.
2. Detailed engineering design and specifications are developed for authorised Capital projects to meet requirements of safety, quality and hygiene at optimum output and efficiency, and lowest cost.
3. Manage the sites assets in terms of verification & write off with a clear change control process.
4. Existing practices, methods and technology are challenged and opportunities to improve factory productivity, safety and quality are proactively sought.
5. A thorough understanding of all aspects of the crumb manufacturing process.
6. Technical & engineering input and support is provided to drive the site’s commercial and operational performance objectives.
7. Tender packages are prepared and reviewed, tender returns evaluated, peer reviews conducted, and commercial terms negotiated.
8. Solutions to problems are recommended so that they can be designed out to reduce operating costs, improve product quality, and improve safety performance.
9. Project costs are managed using ERP tools (SAP and Coupa) and capital spend is managed and forecast.
10. Coaching, development & support is provided to other members of the BD&E team, factory based technical personnel (and to the wider Mondelez organisation if required / appropriate).
11. Manage contractors to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, to the highest quality standards with minimal disruption to the process.
12. Support and expertise in the application of GMP and Sanitary design standards across the sites is provided, developing and sharing best practices across the MEU network.
13. Work with Cluster, Regional and global teams to align Capital plans across the Mondelēz group.
What you will bring

1. Ability to motivate and develop onsite personnel and communicate across a broad range of management levels and functional areas.
2. Ability to organise your own time, manage your own agenda around site priorities.
3. A minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing industry, preferably food, beverages or pharmaceutical.
4. Significant experience in the identification and delivery of Capital projects up to a value of £1MM.
5. Demonstrated experience in project delivery in high volume manufacturing environments.
6. Demonstrable continual professional development.
7. Computer skills – spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Microsoft Word), graphics (PowerPoint), SAP, PLC Software (Rockwell preferable) & SCADA screens.
8. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Qualification Requirements
The following qualifications are required for this role:
1. BEng/MEng in Engineering
2. Chartered status preferred
3. APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent preferred
The responsibilities of this position are performed within the framework of a regional business model that is defined and managed by Mondelēz Europe GmbH, Switzerland. No Relocation support available.
