The Project Engineer will lead the development and implementation of Capital Projects and provide technical & engineering support on the Marlbrook site (and across the UK chocolate network). Key responsibilities include:
1. Carrying out investigation, design, contractor management and engineering project management (including cost and programme management).
2. Ensuring compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements during project development, execution, commissioning, and following handover to production.
3. Acting as project leader and managing other department members or contract staff as part of the project team.
4. Working closely with the Business Development Manager and Site Leadership Team to ensure that engineering solutions support business requirements and align with the long-term site development plan.
5. Managing several projects with values up to £1MM.
How you will contribute:
1. Designing for new NPD and factory development projects in collaboration with Manufacturing and BD&E.
2. Developing detailed engineering designs and specifications for authorized Capital projects to meet safety, quality and hygiene requirements with optimum output and efficiency at the lowest cost.
3. Managing the site's assets in terms of verification & write-off with a clear change control process.
4. Proactively seeking opportunities to improve factory productivity, safety, and quality.
5. Providing technical & engineering input to drive the site’s commercial and operational performance objectives.
6. Preparing and reviewing tender packages, evaluating tender returns, conducting peer reviews, and negotiating commercial terms.
7. Recommending problem solutions to design out issues that reduce operating costs, improve product quality, and enhance safety performance.
8. Managing project costs using ERP tools (SAP and Coupa) and forecasting capital spend.
9. Providing coaching, development & support to BD&E team members and factory-based technical personnel.
10. Managing contractors to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
11. Providing support and expertise in the application of GMP and Sanitary design standards across sites, developing and sharing best practices across the MEU network.
12. Collaborating with Cluster, Regional and global teams to align Capital plans across the Mondelēz group.
What you will bring:
1. A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career along with relevant experience and knowledge, including the ability to motivate and develop onsite personnel.
2. Organizational skills to manage your own agenda around site priorities.
3. A minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing industry, preferably food, beverages or pharmaceutical.
4. Significant experience in the identification and delivery of Capital projects up to a value of £1MM.
5. Demonstrated experience in project delivery in high volume manufacturing environments.
6. Continual professional development in relevant fields.
7. Computer skills including spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Microsoft Word), graphics (PowerPoint), SAP, PLC Software (preferably Rockwell) & SCADA screens.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualification Requirements:
1. BEng/MEng in Engineering.
2. Chartered status preferred.
3. APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent preferred.
