I am working with a school in Southampton who are looking to recruit a Science Teacher for January. Responsibilities: Plan, deliver, and assess science lessons in accordance with the curriculum. Provide differentiated support for students with diverse needs, including emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment. Collaborate with the SEN team, pastoral staff, and other teachers to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and tailored teaching strategies. Manage challenging behavior using restorative and trauma-informed approaches. Promote emotional well-being and self-regulation through the teaching of science. Regularly assess and monitor progress, providing feedback to students and parents. Skills & Qualities: Strong understanding of science, ideally with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). Experience working in SEMH, SEN, or alternative education settings is a plus. Ability to build rapport and trust with students with complex needs. Patience, flexibility, and creativity in teaching methods. Excellent behavior management skills, using positive and proactive strategies. Strong communication skills to liaise with colleagues, parents, and external agencies. An empathetic, compassionate, and student-centered approach. Desirable: Experience with therapeutic or restorative teaching practices. Training in special educational needs, trauma-informed teaching, or SEMH.
