An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, self-motivated and effective senior criminal investigator role in the National Trading Standards Regional Investigations and eCrime Team based with City of York Council. The team specialises in targeting criminals involved in serious and complex trading standards offences, primarily in relation to consumer and business to business fraud. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in undertaking complex criminal investigations, and have an excellent grasp of the law and associated procedures and guidance surrounding the investigation of crime and rules of evidence. This role will include a specialism in conducting financial investigations and money laundering investigations and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate significant experience in this area. As an effective communicator, you will be confident at interacting with a wide range of audiences and the role will include taking witness statements, conducting interviews with suspects, and assisting with the trial process at Crown Court. The role also involves dealing with litigious and challenging individuals and working to challenging deadlines. The post will be hybrid, including working remotely and some office-based work in York, as well as travel for enforcement purposes and for Crown Court trials, as and when required. There will be occasional requirements to travel at short notice, and the post will include working outside of normal office hours. The duties of this post require the postholder to undertake a basic Criminal Record check (unspent convictions only) via the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post will be subject to a Police Vetting request.
