About the Role:
Balfour Beatty is currently seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join the team working on Sub Lot 2B at Crackley. As a Section Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing engineering activities on site, ensuring the delivery of a section of works or a larger project in accordance with the construction programme. You will be responsible for supervising Site Engineers, managing documentation, and ensuring the successful completion of tasks, whilst maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Allocate tasks to Site Engineers and supervise the completion of these tasks, ensuring they are performed to the required standards.
* Ensure that Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Check Sheets are completed as soon as the checks can be performed, ensuring quality control.
* Oversee the engineering requirements for the delivery of sections of work or large-scale projects, coordinating with subcontractors to ensure timely completion in line with the construction programme.
* Manage the distribution of information effectively using document control systems, ensuring timely access to project documentation.
* Develop and approve procedures specific to your area of works, ensuring these procedures meet the required standards and are followed correctly.
* In collaboration with the Section Foreman, assess plant and resource requirements to meet the demands of site and office-based work.
* Approve method statements and risk assessments, ensuring they are followed throughout the works to maintain safety standards.
* Ensure Site Engineers complete setting out in line with design and confirm design drawings are accurately marked up to reflect completed works.
* Liaise with other Section Engineers and Foremen to ensure that any on-site clashes are efficiently managed to maintain a smooth workflow.
* Regularly review and update procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the work process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering or a related subject, or HND in Civil Engineering.
* Previous site experience in Civil Engineering, specifically in highways and rail projects.
* Experience with structures and a good understanding of engineering principles.
* Ability to read and interpret design drawings accurately.
* Experience working with a Permit System and the ability to raise permits to work when required.
* Basic environmental awareness and a commitment to sustainability on-site.
