Job summary To assemble and dispense in-patient, outpatient and take home medication and to process controlled drug requisitions, following standard dispensary operating procedures. All assembling and dispensing work is checked. To participate in the ward based medicines management service, assessing patients own medicines, and organising supplies. To support the Pharmacy Logistics Service in providing safe, effective and efficient pharmacy purchasing and distribution services. To work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and be guided by professional good practice guidelines. To work as part of a team and also work independently, using own initiative to deal with routine enquiries e.g availability and supply of medicines to wards, or patients, referring to the Technician or a Pharmacist if necessary. Main duties of the job An exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Assistant Technical Officer has become available to join the pharmacy team at the Princess of Wales Hospital Bridgend. Our ATOs are valued members of the Pharmacy team and this role is an opportunityto develop further to support the Pharmacy staff working in all areas of Pharmacy. You will gain experience across a variety of specialties, working closely with Technicians and Pharmacists to deliver a high quality, patient focused medicines management services. You must possess excellent communication and organisational skills in order to provide an efficient and safe pharmacy service for patients at thePrincess of Wales Hospital.
