Elevation Recruitment hve an exciting opportunity for a Hydraulics Design Engineer to join one of our clients' engineering teams and play a key role in delivering complex hydraulic solutions for special purpose machinery. Working alongside our multi-discipline teams, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of hydraulic and fluid utility systems, including hydraulic circuits, water, air (pneumatic), oil lubrication, and emulsion systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing technical solutions from concept through to completion, ensuring they are tailored to our customer’s specific needs. This is a predominantly office-based role (with Hybrid working), though occasional international travel may be required to visit customers and suppliers. We are looking for an engineer with strong practical skills and knowledge in hydraulics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), pipe sizing, pump sizing, motor selection, pumps, valves, and associated pipework. Main Tasks and Responsibilities Collaborate within a multi-discipline engineering team to deliver project objectives. Design hydraulic and fluid utility systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Produce technical documentation including block diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and detailed calculations. Select and size pumps, motors, valves, and pipework to ensure optimal system performance. Ensure designs meet manufacturing requirements, budget constraints, and project timelines. Provide technical support throughout manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning phases. Participate in inspections, testing, and commissioning activities at both manufacturer and customer sites. Assist the proposals team by developing technical specifications, scopes of supply, and equipment cost estimates. Work closely with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors to facilitate smooth project execution. Collaborate with the plant coordination team to develop 2D & 3D layouts for fluid systems. Ideally, support and participate in 3D plant piping design and routing using software such as Plant3D, ensuring accurate piping orthographic and isometric drawings. Desired Skills and Experience Strong knowledge and understanding of hydraulic power systems and fluid utilities. Proficiency in designing and sizing pumps, motors, valves, and pipework. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to hydraulic systems. IT proficiency, particularly in Autodesk products such as AutoCAD and Plant3D. Strong communication skills to effectively discuss technical and non-technical issues. Experience in the design, manufacturing, erection, and commissioning of hydraulic systems for industrial applications. Why should you apply?
