An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary Community Mental Health Nurse at either grade 5 or 6 to join our expanding Community Mental Health Team-Older People Service based at Baghill House. We are seeking either an experienced community mental health nurse or a potential development post can be offered. This is a full-time position for one year to cover maternity leave.
We are a small, friendly, and passionate team looking to recruit a like-minded group of 5 or 6 nurses to work within our integrated team of both Trust and local authority professionals. A car and driving license are essential for this role due to the area that we cover.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified nurse with up-to-date professional expertise and experience in areas such as treatment, administration of injections, monitoring of wellbeing, assessment/risk management, social care support, and case management.
The post holder will also be responsible for becoming a mentor, supporting students and colleagues with their development, and assuming the daily functions within the band's six role. Development will be offered if a band 5. Therefore, good IT skills are required, including familiarity with the electronic systems that support our work. The post is being advertised as either a band 6 post or as a development post at band 5 post whereby the successful candidate must successfully undertake/achieve band 6 competency framework to gain the band 6 role.
Main duties of the job
1. Monitor, support, and offer therapeutic treatment to service users.
2. Hold a caseload and support service users with complex mental health needs.
3. Risk manage safely within the community while supporting a person-centred approach/recovery model.
4. Work both independently and as part of a team.
5. Require good IT and communication skills and be able to write clear comprehensive reports in set timeframes while working on two electronic systems.
6. Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
7. Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity, and drive continuous improvement.
8. Support mentoring of students on placement and offer educational advice support to other professionals when needed.
