Band 8A Artificial Intelligence Data Scientist
UHNM has a requirement for a Data Scientist to be part of our newly established AI Team. This pivotal role will be supported by Data Scientists in the successful delivery of AI and data analytics services. The primary aim is to identify user cases within the Trust that can benefit from AI investment, secure and manage funding streams, and provide technical support for AI-driven projects and systems used by UHNM. The Data Scientist will also resolve data-related issues to maintain business continuity.
Additionally, this role will involve active participation in project implementation where appropriate. The Data Scientist will work closely with the AI Programme Manager, AI Specialist, and clinical liaison officers to deliver AI solutions across the Trust, ensuring the provision of efficient and reliable services.

Main duties of the job
* To provide specialist support in the operational management, implementation, and maintenance of AI and data analytics projects, ensuring continuous and acceptable service to all end users, including management and supervision of approved third-party service providers and contractors.
* Formulate the development vision and long-term strategy for AI and data analytics alongside the Head of AI and Data Analytics that meets the Trust and IM&T digitalisation strategies as well as the requirements of the service.
* Create, manage, and develop overarching AI/data analytics design and technical development strategies, setting out the roadmap for enhancing and updating AI systems across the Trust.
* Make system design and technical decisions on current and new AI projects, involving and collaborating with the rest of the AI Team and stakeholders from the wider Trust Teams.
* Work with the AI Specialist and Data Analytics to consistently move the AI service forward in terms of agility and efficiency.
* Actively champion and contribute to the technical product documentation and work with AI third parties to ensure effective communication of AI changes and issues to the customer base.

Job responsibilities
* Plan, organise, and implement highly complex AI projects that are critical to Trust operational processes and impact both clinical and non-clinical areas.
* Assess risk of non-delivery of plans to ensure deadlines and prioritisation of work according to Trust requirements and IM&T strategy.
* Implement best practices and changes to current policies impacting both clinical and non-clinical areas, new reporting methods.
* Maintain an awareness of changes being implemented in the Trust, and raise issues if a change impacts the delivery of other services, particularly those that might affect other IT systems.
* Collaborate with local NHS partners across the Integrated Care System to ensure the solution design is understood as it is used widely across the local health economy by other patient-facing organisations.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* A master's degree in computer science, Data Science, AI, or a related field.
* Evidence of continuing professional development, either academic (e.g. MSc) or in an industry standard qualification (e.g. MSCD).
* PhD in Data Science or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, experience with AI frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch, and knowledge of data management and cloud computing.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and implement machine learning models.
* Prior experience in developing and delivering AI solutions, including the ability to manage data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing. Experience of working with public cloud service providers Azure or AWS.
* Continuous professional development in AI and machine learning techniques. Network Performance Monitoring: Monitoring network performance, analysing network traffic patterns and implementing improvements in network efficiency, capacity, and quality of service (QOS).
* Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
