About the role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO, providing individualised support to pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) conditions. Key Responsibilities: Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions that support academic and personal development. Assist with the delivery of EHCP provisions and differentiated lesson content. Promote independence, self-regulation, and emotional resilience among pupils. Establish positive and supportive relationships with students to encourage engagement. Support the classroom teacher in preparing materials and managing behaviour effectively. Track and report on pupil progress to inform ongoing support strategies. Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment in line with safeguarding policies. Job Requirements: Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is essential. Sound understanding of common SEN conditions and evidence-based support strategies. A calm, compassionate, and adaptive approach to working with young learners. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A recognised qualification such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate or SEN-specific training is highly desirable. Knowledge of safeguarding practices and behaviour management techniques. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
