We have an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer to join us in Engineering Operations, a small team of specialist network infrastructure engineers, designing, delivering and supporting secure communication systems to customers across defence, both in the UK and overseas.
Work will include support to specialist users deployed on operations. Youll be involved in infrastructure design, delivery and bespoke engineering solutions to organisations across government and core equipment programmes and defence innovation tasks. This position will be within a team assisting in the delivery of both long-term projects and ad-hoc tasks.
On starting, youll be placed within one of the following work streams, dependent on experience:
+ Infrastructure design and installation - Lead the design and installation of passive network equipment (Cabinets, cable management systems, fibre & copper cabling).
+ System design, configuration and installation - Lead the design and configuration and installation of secure networks (Routing & switching, firewalls, crypto).
+ Cyber innovation - Lead the development of future secure networks (virtualisation, server configuration, industrial control systems).
The post is currently funded for an annual Market Skills Allowance (MSA) bonus of £3,000 per year, on meeting a minimum engineering skills requirement., As Network Engineer, youll assist in designing, testing and commissioning telecommunications, network and cyber capabilities to users across defence., + Conduct fault-finding, performance analysis and problem resolution, to assist in fault rectification.
+ Assist in designing, testing and commissioning infrastructure solutions in accordance with MOD standards as directed by the department.
+ Assist in the development of bespoke engineering solutions to meet customer requirements.
+ Be committed to continuing your professional development through a range of professional courses and external training providers.
+ The opportunity for line management of staff.
+ Travel to locations within the UK and abroad, as and when required.
