Hours: 37.5 hours per week (core hours 10am-2pm Monday-Friday)
You’ll be joining a team of passionate teachers working to write and edit Twinkl’s online SEND content for educators across the UK. The majority of your time will be spent working with Content Writers, Designers and Illustrators and engaging with product priorities to facilitate the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers.
Your weekly activities could include:
1. Ideating, researching, and creating new resources to support Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) teaching and learning across the curriculum for KS1, KS2, KS3, and KS4.
2. Responding to editorial feedback and working alongside colleagues to elevate a resource to an excellent standard.
3. Checking content and providing feedback to other writers.
4. Sharing knowledge of how to include, support, and further challenge learners with SEND across curriculum subjects with the team, to write a variety of resources that engage learners and appeal to teachers.
5. Using your knowledge of working with children with SEND to ensure resources are practical, relevant, and effective in the classroom.
6. Producing resources that respond to customer needs and current teaching methodologies.
7. Meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas.
To succeed in the role, you will:
1. Have completed primary qualified teacher status: PGCE, B.Ed or equivalent.
2. Have 2 years of full classroom teaching experience after QTS is complete.
3. Have experience of teaching pupils with SEND in a mainstream classroom or in a specialist setting.
4. Be a confident practitioner in the delivery of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum.
5. Be a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team.
6. Have detailed and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum in England and SEND Code of Practice.
7. Have experience and knowledge about SEND provision for children with a range of specific needs in the classroom.
8. Be prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and G Suite.
9. Understand the teaching community in England, knowing their unique pressures and current educational trends.
10. Have a drive for continuous professional development.
In this role, you will learn:
1. How to ideate and create diverse, inclusive, engaging and varied resources for children and teachers right through to publication.
2. How to check content and provide feedback for other writers.
3. How to work in ‘agile’ teams, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines.
4. How to collaborate with educational professionals based across the UK through our company focus groups and customer feedback requests.
5. How to apply your teaching experience to create new products, from ideation stage to publication.
6. How to use Project Tracking software as well as other in-house systems.
7. To advise and edit sensitive resources based on a range of diverse needs and abilities.
8. To work as part of the wider Inclusion team at Twinkl.
You’ll work with:
1. The supportive and experienced Inclusion team.
2. Education Content Lead for Inclusion, Suzy Baker.
3. Your own direct Line Manager and Production Team Leader.
4. Our team of qualified teachers who currently write, edit and produce content for the Inclusion team.
5. Our amazing in-house design and illustration teams, collaborating daily to produce the beautiful, polished resources that Twinkl are known for.
We're interested in anyone who meets a combination of the following:
1. Fully qualified teacher who has taught a range of subjects across KS1 and KS2 with full class responsibility.
2. Has SEND-specific qualifications and/or training in SEND interventions.
3. Has detailed knowledge of the content of the 2014 National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice.
4. Has recent experience and knowledge of teaching children with a range of SEND needs, and/or has been a SENCo in their setting.
5. Access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.
