About you:
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to lead the Housing Solutions services which include Housing Advice and Social Housing Allocations. Passionate and with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, you will be able to lead by example, and be able to manage conflicting priorities and varied workload whilst working under pressure in a fast paced reactive environment. You will lead a team of housing caseworkers to provide a customer-focused service to prevent homelessness and ensure all statutory duties are being met for households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in accordance with relevant housing legislation. You'll need to possess advanced problem solving skills, be able to make rational decisions whilst under pressure and be innovative and creative when identifying solutions. The post also oversees the management of Social Housing Allocations.
You will have excellent specialist knowledge of legislation and caselaw in relating to homeless prevention, landlord and tenant law, homelessness and social housing allocation. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to coach staff and skilfully communicate across all levels.
About the role:
Reporting into the Senior Housing Needs Team Lead you will be required to provide a housing advice and options service (including the social housing register) focused on maximising prevention and relief of homelessness that delivers positive outcomes for people in housing need within the requirements of statutory legislation and guidance and to support delivery of the Homelessness Strategy.
This is a fixed-term contract expected to end September 30th 2025.
About the team:
The housing solutions service consists of 17 staff in total delivering housing advice, housing options and social housing assessments. Officers report to two team leaders directly line managed by the Housing Solutions Lead. The services represent the Council’s frontline resource dealing with homelessness prevention and relief of homelessness.
