THE MAIN JOB FUNCTION
1. To undertake newbuild and repair activities on vehicles of all types to the highest standard within the scheduled times.
2. To retrofit to the highest standards supplementary equipment.
3. To care for customers' vehicles and property and seek to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
4. To carry out all work in a safe, environmentally friendly, and economical way.
5. To build a bank of knowledge and skills to ensure you build to the latest recommended operating procedures.
6. To share skills and knowledge to develop others within the business.

INTERACTION AND REPORTING
Directly Responsible To: Production Foreman
Directly Responsible For: Trainee Body Builder
Relationships With: Other departments staff, suppliers, and their representatives.
Health and Wellbeing
1. Ensure safe and reliable use and maintenance of equipment.
2. Ensure staff take all precautions necessary affecting health and wellbeing in the site.
3. Ensure customers and colleagues are protected from any possible dangers or hazards on the premises by ensuring that they remain in permitted areas only.
4. Actively participate in Health & Wellbeing working groups.
Skill Activities
1. Carry out work completely and effectively within specified build and repair times set by the business.
2. To retrofit to the highest standards supplementary equipment.
3. Advise and report on build or repair discrepancies identified whilst working on vehicles.
Customer Relations
1. Protect customers' vehicles with covers and dust sheets and use wipes and other consumables to keep customers' vehicles clean.
2. Maintain the security of customers' vehicles while in your custody, including personal effects and contents by locking vehicles when they are left unattended.
3. Ensure that all vehicles are examined and documented on the delivery and collection from your care.
4. Look for ways to identify future customer cost savings by recommending alternative ways of building or repairing a vehicle body.
5. Drive customers' vehicles in a safe and considerate manner always.
Control of Costs
1. Ensure that all time spent on jobs and materials used are accurately recorded.
2. Work carefully to avoid accidental damage to vehicles and components during work activities.
3. Seek to minimise wastage of all materials by careful use and encouraging the careful use by others.
4. Care for all plant and tools belonging to the business and not to misuse same.
5. Ensure that all work undertaken complies with business, manufacturers, and legislative safety & legal standards.
6. Avoid unnecessary overproduction in your team.
7. Seek to minimise non-revenue and other diversionary time by using an organised and disciplined approach to job tasks and objectives. Accurately record and report on all such lost time in an objective manner to assist the business to seek ways to reduce and overcome diversionary and lost time problems.
AUTHORITY LEVEL
Personnel: Assigned procedures and health & safety responsibilities.
OTHER DUTIES
Any other duties as and when required by senior company managers that are reasonably within the capabilities of the person and are aimed at achieving the company's objectives and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
1. Experience in the building and repair of vehicle bodies or coachwork.
2. Receive training and maintain best practice in manual handling methods.
3. Organised and methodical approach to building a vehicle body or carrying out a repair.
4. A care for and attention to detail.
5. Undertake training offered by the business to you.
6. Excellent at prioritising.
7. Numeracy and literacy to a level adequate to deal with documentation.
8. To understand vehicle make-up.
