SuperCare is an Ofsted registered provider of children's homes based in London and the South East. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Private Teacher to provide one-on-one tutorials for young people aged 5-18 in our London homes.
You will work with children with learning disabilities who are not yet in full-time schooling or unable to attend school, delivering tailored education plans that meet the needs of each child. The role will be based from our home office and will involve working closely with schools, local authorities, and social workers to ensure the best outcomes for the young people in our care.

Main Duties:
Educational Support:
* Provide tailored private tutorials for between 1 and 12 young people aged 5-18 during term times.
* Deliver lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring coverage of the National Curriculum for students who are not able to attend local schooling.
* Assess each young person’s learning needs and develop individual education plans that align with their abilities and goals.
* Support the emotional and educational development of young people with learning disabilities, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
Collaboration and Coordination:
* Work closely with schools, social workers, and local authorities to establish educational plans and coordinate the transition into full-time schooling where possible.
* Maintain open communication with care teams, keeping them informed of the educational progress and needs of each young person.
* Attend meetings with educational stakeholders, providing input to ensure the best educational outcomes for the children in our care.
Safeguarding and Administration:
* Ensure all lessons are conducted in accordance with safeguarding policies and best practices.
* Maintain detailed records of each student's progress and submit regular reports to the Head of Education.
* Adjust educational plans as needed, based on ongoing assessments and feedback from schools and care teams.
Household Responsibilities:
* Share in the practical activities necessary to maintain a positive and safe learning environment for the children.
* Assist in the upkeep of the educational space and ensure it meets all health and safety standards.
Personal Development and Professional Conduct:
* Act as a role model for young people, setting positive examples of behaviour and attitude.
* Stay informed of best practices in SEN education and ensure personal skills and knowledge are regularly updated.
* Take part in regular professional supervision and actively pursue opportunities for personal development.
* Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately to the appropriate authorities.
Additional Duties:
* Be flexible in adjusting the educational approach based on the needs of each young person.
* Carry out any reasonable additional duties as requested by the management to support the care and education of the children.
Requirements to be Successful:
* Teaching Qualification: You must hold a recognised teaching qualification, with significant experience in working with young people with learning disabilities.
* Experience in SEN: A proven background in delivering educational support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential.
* Understanding of the National Curriculum: You should have a broad knowledge of the National Curriculum across various subjects, particularly for students unable to access mainstream education.
* Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with young people, care teams, local authorities, and educational stakeholders.
* Collaborative and Adaptable: Willing to work in close partnership with schools and social workers to develop and implement personalised educational plans.
* Safeguarding Knowledge: Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and experience in maintaining a safe learning environment.
* Positive Attitude: A forward-thinking, can-do approach is vital, with a commitment to delivering the highest standards of education and care.
