ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESIdentification To be the contact for all departments regarding the identification of Overseas Visitors. To assist in interviewing patients to determine their eligibility for NHS treatment, including obtaining relevant documentation such as proof ofexemption. Communicate with patients and their relatives to advise whether they are eligible for treatment, providing them with the necessary advice andinformation.Communicate with clinical and management teams to alert them of nonentitled patients. Income Provide advice to patients and their relatives regarding their status and the costs of treatment. To assist in helping to securing payment from patients who are not eligible before treatment is commenced (where treatment is not immediatelynecessary), liaising with clinical and managerial staff throughout the process. Ensure accurate records of any meetings, interviews or enquiries made. Maintain a record management system to ensure accurate and robust records of patient details, activity, income and trends are maintained. Liaise with external agencies, including NHSI, Department for Work and Pensions, Counter Fraud and the UK Border Agency when appropriatepatients have been identified. To arrange for interim and final accounts / invoices for patients, liaising closely with the Financial Services department to ensure that appropriatepayments are made, and/or ensure awareness of the status of the account. Ensure all European Economic Area (EEA) exempt patients are entered on the National Web Portal following appropriate verification of patientsEuropean Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) to enable costs to be recovered from member states, and audit incentive payments received. Policy and Procedure To interpret Department of Health (DoH) guidelines and regulations, and use these to make decisions as to whether patients are exempt or liable forcharges. Ensure Trust policies are maintained with the latest guidelines and legislative changes. Attend relevant external meetings on behalf of the Trust. Reporting To maintain comprehensive and accurate records to facilitate all internal and external reporting requirements. Update National Summary Care Record (national database) with appropriate details following the outcome of identification investigations. Provide accurate monthly information to be submitted to the National Web Portal To ensure investigation and outcome details recorded timely and accurately on the Overseas tracking database Provide detailed and accurate information to enable internal financial reporting and the correct production of invoices. Training & Compliance Responsible for updating National Summary Care Records as required by the Home Office Visitor & Migrant Cost Recovery Programme Responsible for updating CaMIS with Overseas Visitor Status
