Job summary The advertised post is for a Speciality Doctor post in Gastroenterology and the Intestinal Failure service, based at University Hospital of Wales. The Intestinal Failure (IF): Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN) inpatient service is hosted on ward A7 at the University Hospital of Wales with clinical oversight from a consultant gastroenterologist. The post is designed to provide experience in an Integrated Severe Intestinal Failure. This aims to provide the trainee with an interest in advanced nutrition, the skills to take the lead role in nutritional support, but also care for patients in an IF/HPN unit, under senior educational supervision. Main duties of the job Your main duties will be to manage patients under Gastroenterology and the Intestinal Failure tertiary service on ward A7 and other outlying acute ward areas. You will be able to attend MDTs relevant to providing multi-disciplinary care for the inpatients. The post holder will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. They will need to agree levels of activity and throughput with the Clinical Lead and undertake annual appraisal and job planning as per UHB Policy. The post holder will be required to adhere to UHB Policy on maintaining Medical excellence and to be committed to maintaining their standard of performance by keeping knowledge and skills up to date.
