We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Development Surveyor to join the Corporate Landlord service to support the activity in the property development function.
This is a unique opportunity to join a small, dedicated team to represent the Councils property interests on a variety of high profile and high-quality development projects and workstreams and deliver a range of services to support the Councils objectives whilst having an emphasis on commercial return and demonstrating best value.
What will I be doing?
Working under the guidance of the Property Development Manager you will be responsible for leading, managing and supporting a varied portfolio of development projects within the City. This will primarily involve supporting the delivery of housing and ensuring projects are appraised against business objectives and managed capital expenditure.
You will be responsible for negotiating commercial terms for property acquisitions, disposals and other development related agreements, managing stakeholder relationships, assisting the process of appointing and managing consultants, work closely with funders and developers and provide support and advice to senior managers and elected Councillors working collaboratively with colleagues in the Property team, Legal, Housing, Procurement, Regeneration, Finance and other departments. You will be required to use your technical expertise and experience to maximise commercial value, de risk sites and ensure projects are promptly brought into contract.
What do I need to have?
You will be professionally qualified and hold a relevant degree or postgraduation qualification or equivalent relevant experience in either the public or private sector. You will have strong commercial acumen and proven, relevant practical experience and knowledge of property development including appraising land for disposal and acquisition.
It is essential you have the relevant skills to persuade others and influence outcomes and have good communication and organisational skills. You will have effective IT skills and working knowledge of word processing, databases and spreadsheet packages including financial experience or training sufficient to manage financial budgets. You will be able to negotiate effectively and meet commercial and contractual deadlines and communicate effectively both verbally and in a written format to establish excellent working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. You will be able to demonstrate the Council's values and behaviours.
