Moderna is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Research Associate to join the Immunoassays Group in Harwell, UK. This role will focus on the development of cell-based immunoassays and GCLP clinical trial sample testing across multiple therapeutic areas. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in executing assay development, qualification, and validation while ensuring high-quality data generation for clinical trials. This is a laboratory-based role, and the ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic research environment, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support Moderna’s global clinical programs. Here's What You’ll Do: Your key responsibilities will be: Under the guidance of the Scientific Lead, ensure the quality and integrity of assigned projects supporting clinical trials. Develop, qualify, and validate cell-based immunoassays and conduct clinical sample analysis. Maintain mammalian cell cultures, ensuring high-quality cell viability for assays. Prepare media, reagents, and chemicals while keeping detailed batch records. Perform data analysis and interpretation, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality data. Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and author experimental plans and reports. Identify and troubleshoot quality issues, reporting findings to the scientific lead. Your responsibilities will also include: Assuming general laboratory responsibilities, such as acting as a safety coordinator or instrument/process/technology owner. Ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines while maintaining up-to-date training records. Spending 85% or more of working hours in the laboratory environment. Occasionally working overtime or weekend shifts as needed. Generating and analyzing experimental data independently, reporting findings to cross-functional teams. Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table: BSC/MSc Degree in Biology, Biotechnology or biomedical scientists with laboratory research experience in a lab environment Hands-on experience with cell culture in aseptic conditions 2-3 years technical experience in cell culture, lab instrumentation, cell-based assays preferred. Demonstrated level of independence and work ethics Good written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills Good computational skills, preferably experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, GraphPad Prism Preferably knowledge of working in a regulated environment (GCP, GLP, ISO standards) Preferable experience with LIMS systems.
