Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable, and reliable General Cover Teacher to join our team in a secondary school in Leicester on an ad-hoc basis. As a cover teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring that students remain engaged and on-task during the absence of their regular class teacher.

Key Responsibilities:
Cover lessons: Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects, ensuring that students are engaged and completing work set by the class teacher.
Classroom management: Maintain a positive, productive classroom environment and manage student behavior effectively.
Student support: Provide support to students where necessary, including assisting with learning tasks and addressing individual needs.
Monitoring progress: Ensure that students are completing tasks as directed and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate department or head of year.
Administering coursework: Supervise tests, assignments, and exams where needed.
Flexible work schedule: Be available on short notice for ad-hoc assignments, often requiring flexibility to cover a range of subjects and age groups.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is desirable, but not essential.
Previous experience in a secondary school setting is preferred.
Ability to teach across various subjects, including English, Maths, Science, and Humanities.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to keep students focused and engaged.
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
A flexible and positive attitude towards teaching in a variety of settings.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
Desirable Skills:
Experience of working with students aged 11-16.
Specialisms in specific subjects are a bonus, but not required.
Ability to adapt to different teaching methods and resources.
