About Creative Folkestone
Creative Folkestone is a dynamic arts charity dedicated to transforming Folkestone through creativity. Established in 2002, we have revitalised the area with a vibrant community, hosting internationally acclaimed art exhibitions, performances, and events. Our work spans arts, education, property management, and urban regeneration, making a significant impact on local culture and economy.
Role Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of Creative Folkestone’s strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the COO will oversee the management and operational delivery across various departments, including Creative Quarter, Marketing and Communications, and Quarterhouse (Performing Arts and Visitor Experience). This role is central to driving commercial success, enhancing internal communications, and maintaining compliance across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the operational delivery of Creative Folkestone’s activities, ensuring alignment with the business plan and charitable objectives.
* Oversee and manage the Creative Quarter, Marketing and Communications, and Visitor Experience teams, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
* Drive commercial income through the development and management of income-generating activities.
* Support the Chief Executive in strategic planning and act as a proxy where necessary, ensuring smooth operational transitions.
* Lead the Human Resources function, ensuring compliance with legislation, and fostering a supportive work environment through effective people management.
* Manage financial processes in collaboration with the Head of Finance, ensuring accurate and timely financial management.
* Coordinate and report on Environmental Sustainability and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives.
* Attend and contribute to Board and Sub-Committee meetings, presenting papers on areas of responsibility.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and manage relationships with insurers.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in executive leadership, team development, and financial management. They should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Experience in arts management, community engagement, and environmental sustainability is highly desirable.
