About The Role Due to the growth of our Workdry Group we have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our team, to support our Chandlers Ford Branch. The Senior Health and Safety Advisor will be a key member of the SHEQ team, providing specialist expertise on all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing across Selwood Group Ltd. This role will act as a senior point of contact for safety-related issues, taking ownership of complex situations and providing mentorship to less experienced team members. This role focuses on managing high-severity incidents, developing a proactive safety culture across the organisation and supporting the Group Director of SHEQ in achieving the Group Mission Statement and Core Values. As the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll get to: Develop and implement policies and procedures to address high-risk activities, ensuring they are integrated into operational practices. Take a lead role in managing high-risk and high-severity incidents, coordinating investigations, conducting detailed root cause analysis, and ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented. Act as the primary contact for handling DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) compliance in Zone 1 and other hazardous environments. Work with the Head of Health and Safety to develop and implement strategic safety initiatives that align with the company’s operational goals. Provide guidance and support to Health and Safety Advisors, helping them navigate complex situations and enhancing their understanding of safety principles and regulations. Lead internal safety audits and support the preparation for external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001 and industry best practices. Act as a key advisor for CDM 2015 compliance, ensuring that all construction and project activities adhere to statutory requirements, and that safe systems of work are maintained. Liaise with project managers and contractors to assess construction risks, review construction phase plans, and ensure appropriate safety controls are in place. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, using data-driven approaches to identify trends and develop targeted safety improvement plans. Qualifications & Experience Detailed knowledge and operational experience of ensuring compliance with: ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 18001 / 45001 H&S Legislation Achilles UVDB (Utilities Vendor Database Service) NEBOSH Certificate (essential). Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Extensive experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally in high-risk industries such as construction, engineering, or manufacturing. Strong technical knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk management principles, and best practices for managing hazardous operations. Ability to engage, influence, and motivate colleagues at all levels to embrace a culture of safety excellence. Experience in conducting thorough investigations, producing high-quality reports, and implementing corrective actions. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment. UK driving license: Ability and willingness to travel nationwide, supporting multiple locations, conducting audits as required and staying away from home time to time.
