The latest addition to Dyson Farming’s circular farming system is its new 26-acre glasshouse in Carrington, Lincolnshire. It supports the advancement of high-tech, sustainable farming in the UK, avoiding unnecessary food miles that come from imported strawberries at this time of year. Powered with renewable electricity and surplus heat from Dyson Farming’s adjacent anaerobic digester, the giant glasshouse is 760m long with 1456 rows of strawberries and 1,225,000 strawberry plants which will produce 1,250 tonnes of strawberries each year for British consumers. Requirements Managing the day to day operations of the glasshouse team to ensure correct quality and labour costs are achieved. Managing the day-to-day operation of the labour and yield tracking system (Harvest Manager) Short term labour and activity planning Leading toolbox talks and inductions with glasshouse staff Proactive approach to completing all necessary documentation with regards to starters/leavers/off sick etc Support with weekly payroll process. Creating working rota for Glasshouse staff to allow for 7-day operation during harvesting period Produce reports for the Production Manager and Operations Manager Attend call outs as per the rota. Attend weekend cover as per schedule agreed. Proactive attitude ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues by adhering to company H&S policies and procedures. Other duties as required by your line manager. Person specification: Excellent English writing and speaking. Excellent organisational skills. Strong IT skills including MS Office. Experience with using labour planning systems. Professional manner and effective communication skills. Proactive and flexible approach to work. Willing to take responsibility and ownership for tasks. Ability to work under own initiative but also as part of a multifunctional team. The successful candidate will be required to cover extended hours during seasonal peaks. Multilingual including English, Bulgarian, Romanian and/or Russian is advantageous.
