An innovative and expanding engineering firm is looking to add a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to its growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge engineering solutions within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
In this role, you’ll be a core member of the mechanical design function, responsible for creating robust, high-performance mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. You’ll also work closely with colleagues from other disciplines, contributing to the design, integration, testing, and delivery of advanced components and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the development of mechanical designs with a focus on manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), EMC considerations, usability, and long-term maintainability.
Produce and review detailed 3D models and drawings that meet specified technical requirements.
Support the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through to New Product Introduction (NPI).
Ensure products meet relevant compliance standards, collaborating with internal teams to secure certifications.
Investigate and resolve issues in existing designs through root cause analysis.
Participate in peer reviews and contribute to ongoing design improvements.
Support implementation of engineering changes into production.
Your Background
HNC or above in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Strong experience in 3D CAD design
Skilled in producing precise component and assembly drawings with a solid understanding of BS 8888 standards.
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
* Sheet metal and machining processes
* Electronics packaging (e.g., PCB mounting, harnesses, connectors)
* Basic FEA principles
* Shock, vibration, and environmental protection
* EMC shielding and sealing techniques
