The Opportunity
Are you passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs? We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor to work in primary schools and help children develop positive self-regulation, resilience, and confidence. This is a rewarding role where you will work closely with students who struggle with self-regulation, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to engage with learning and thrive in school.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support individual students and small groups, helping them manage their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build positive relationships. Working closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and pastoral staff, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and structured environment where every child feels safe, respected and supported.
Main Responsibilities
1. Work 1:1 and in small groups to support children with behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties.
2. Implement behaviour management strategies to help students regulate their emotions.
3. Build trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model.
4. Work with teachers to create personalised support plans and interventions.
5. Help children develop social skills, resilience, and self-confidence.
6. Support students in class to engage with learning and follow school routines.
7. Liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to support.
Minimum Requirements
1. Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
2. Ability to remain calm under pressure and use de-escalation techniques effectively.
3. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
4. Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping young learners succeed.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
6. Experience in behaviour mentoring, youth work, or pastoral support.
7. Knowledge of restorative practices, de-escalation techniques, or trauma-informed approaches.
8. Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar behaviour management strategies.
9. Education or Psychology-related qualification.

This will be refunded after 20 days of work and the DBS has been registered on the update service.
