Job Title: Payroll & Finance Administrator Department: Finance Reports To: Finance Lead Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday Friday, 9:00am 5:00pm) Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary Range: £30,000 £36,000 per annum Role Overview A well-established company in the FMCG sector is seeking an experienced Payroll & Finance Administrator to join its Finance function. This key role involves the efficient processing of weekly and monthly payroll for a mid-sized workforce, ensuring all tasks are completed in line with statutory requirements and internal policies. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to work closely with cross-functional teams, including Human Resources and Finance, while contributing to the broader operational efficiency of the organisation. What Youll Be Doing Managing end-to-end payroll processing for approximately 250 employees on both weekly and monthly schedules using payroll software (e.g., Sage). Calculating and applying statutory deductions such as PAYE, NICs, and pensions. Maintaining up-to-date employee records, including new starters, leavers, job changes, and contract amendments. Reviewing time and attendance data, resolving discrepancies, and reporting payroll summaries to leadership. Processing payment uploads for wages and ensuring banking deadlines are met. Ensuring compliance with current UK payroll and tax legislation. Preparing and submitting required reports, including RTI, EPS, FPS, and statistical returns such as ONS. Handling employee queries relating to payroll and resolving any issues promptly. Managing year-end procedures, including reconciliations and preparation of statutory documentation. Collaborating with internal departments to streamline payroll processes and enhance accuracy. Supporting internal and external audits and preparing necessary reports. Managing and issuing HMRC forms, including P60s, P45s, P11Ds, and Annual Returns. Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing enhanced internal controls. Ideal Candidate Profile 25 years of proven experience in a payroll processing role, ideally handling a similar employee headcount. Practical knowledge of payroll software, preferably Sage, and strong Excel skills. Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory obligations. Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Capable of managing confidential information with integrity and professionalism. A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
