Protecnium (protecnium.com/en) is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services for construction. We are currently seeking an MEP Section Engineer for an Airport Project in London, UK.
Estimated duration: 36-48 months, with the possibility of extension depending on the progress of the project. Generally, at the end of a project, efforts are made to move the employee to other projects for continuity.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM) with a 30-minute break.
About the Role
The MEP Section Engineer will be responsible for managing the construction site to meet project delivery objectives while maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control. The role involves overseeing multiple ongoing projects, ensuring they meet the required quality and timelines, and achieving maximum commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead by example in safety and environmental behavior.
* Supervise subcontractors, assistant and site engineers, and the workforce, ensuring they understand RAMS before starting their shift and are aware of the setting-out methods.
* Verify the setting-out work of shift engineers to ensure accuracy, while also ensuring they meet their responsibilities (e.g., material testing, operative briefings, check sheet completion).
* Maintain high standards for survey books and daily diaries kept by engineers.
* Support the manager as required.
* Attend and sometimes lead coordination meetings with stakeholders and subcontractors.
* Ensure that 3D drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction, requesting any missing data in advance to avoid delays.
* Ensure inspection and test plans are completed and recorded digitally, verifying accuracy and quality as per the PMP/Specification.
* Prepare and monitor a 2-4 week program with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Monitor site activities to ensure unsafe conditions and non-compliance with company policies are addressed promptly.
* Consider plant, labor, material costs, and project timelines.
* Complete material take-offs and requisitions as requested by sub-agent/agent.
* Prepare and review Method Statements, Inspection Test Plans, MARs, and Task Briefings.
* Order materials and maintain a register of all orders placed and confirmed.
* Complete Temporary Works Design Briefs and inspect temporary works structures (once trained).
* Foster good working relationships with clients, designers, and the supply chain.
* Communicate clearly with foremen and gangers to ensure proper understanding of information provided.
* Document verbal instructions given to subcontractors and maintain detailed records of resources used on additional works.
* Ensure all delivery tickets are properly cost-coded and forwarded to the accounts department for processing. Perform other relevant duties as required.
Requirements
* Degree or master's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (other engineering degrees will be considered).
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP engineering and utilities, ideally in large infrastructure or civil projects.
* Certifications: CSCS Card Level - Academically or Professionally Qualified Person.
* Proven application of commercial and contractual knowledge.
* Experience in cost management and achieving high commercial performance.
* Strong people management skills and the ability to supervise and mentor site teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Advanced computer literacy.

* Experience in airport or critical areas.
* Membership in relevant engineering institutions.
