Job summary The High-Cost Drugs and Homecare Team at SWBH Pharmacy are seeking a qualified NVQ2 Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant to join our friendly team. This is in readiness for our early 2025 move to our new home at the Sheldon Block Pharmacy, located at what will be our City Health Campus, which will also serve the Birmingham Treatment Centre and The Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. Our brand new Midland Metropolitan Hospital is now open so there will be opportunity to gain experience working in their brand new dispensary too. Experience of working with High-Cost Drugs or Homecare medicines is desirable but not essential as full training will be given in all aspects of our service. This is no ordinary Dispenser's post as many tasks require you to be office based and working with various spreadsheets and databases. You will also work closely with our clerical assistants, to resolve any queries they may have in relation to the payment of invoices or prescription requests. Main duties of the job You will assist in the provision of a High-Cost Drugs and Homecare service to all patients of our Trust to include, dispensing high-cost drugs, carrying out funding checks via the Blueteq Hi-Cost Database, raising homecare requests to generate purchase orders for our homecare patients, carrying out stock checks, updating and maintaining relevant spreadsheets and databases used by the team and helping to resolve queries, relating to invoicing or prescription tracking. There will be a requirement to work across all of our site dispensaries including the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital as part of a rostered 7-day working pattern. Working knowledge of a broad range of medicines and their safety issues. Experience of working within a pharmaceutical team.
