Role Responsibilities
Underwriting / Development
* Develop, negotiate and support the underwriting of new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments within own authority and in line with strategy.
* Control and underwrite new business and renewal book within authority and in line with strategy.
* Plan, prioritise and manage individual own work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLA’s to deliver exceptional customer service.
* Liaise with brokers daily, answering incoming telephone calls and building lasting professional relationships with brokers to ensure our mutual successes.
* Work periodically with the management team to review our proposition and make recommendations.
* Support with Policy Issuance.
Compliance
* Establish and maintain knowledge of internal controls and all procedures relating to underwriting.
* Ensure you uphold Imperium’s principle of Treating Customers Fairly.
* Undertake training relevant to the role.
Education And Qualifications
* Strong level of technical underwriting expertise in a commercial insurance environment, at least 5 years’ underwriting experience.
* Good experience of underwriting and risk management principles and sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for insurance.
* Insurance qualifications e.g. CII (Desirable).
Knowledge & Experience
* Ability to manage own time, meet deadlines and prioritise work.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Pragmatic decision maker with ability to analyse and interpret.
* Strong analytic skills and numerical aptitude will be essential.
* Team worker with the ability to work on own initiative.
* Outcome focused.
* Professional approach to relationships with an affinity for trading with brokers.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
