Successful applicants can expect to receive training to enable them to deliver an innovative practitioner role within emergency medicine in supportive environment where comprehensive training will be encouragedincluding your accreditation on the RPS Advanced Specialist Curriculum. The post-holder will support patient focussed medicines management services within A&E by providing specialist medicines advice during ward round and at consultant level.
In 2023, our emergency services department underwent a £40m refurbishment to form our new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre and with the shift towards care closer to home, increasing opportunities around health prevention and digital technology, we believe this has never been a more exciting time to join and help us to shape and influence the care our patients receive. This role will be an excellent fit for those who show an appreciation for service development due to the ongoing current transformation of the pharmacy provision within the EmergencyCare department.

• Developing and providing an advanced practitioner service to patients presenting in A&E
• Providing a specialist advisory service on medicines at ward and consultant level.
• Undertaking complex medication reviews and contributing to the MDT assessment
• Partaking in discharge planning and patient counselling whilst arranging for referrals via the national Discharge Medicines Service scheme.
• Assessing and identifying key areas for service development and expansion in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacist for Emergency Care
• Acting as a mentor and role model for junior pharmacists rotating through emergency care
What are we looking for? You will need to have:
• experience of pro-actively influencing prescribing within a secondary care environment
• hold a post graduate clinical diploma
• hold (or currently undertaking) an independent prescribing qualification
• To always go above and beyond for the team to ensure a collaborative approach in all that we do.

You must have good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to show you are self- motivated and flexible in your approach to your work to meet the requirements for our developing service.
You must already be registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council for a minimum of 2 years and hold or be working towards and independent prescribing qualification.
You are expected to work within key performance indicators as part of the service provision and show you can work on your own initiative, with other Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Assistants, Nursing staff, Medical staff and other healthcare professionals in line with the Hospitals Trust Values.
To support your development, full local training will be provided on medicines management and within an emergency care setting to the successful candidate and your development needs will be identified through an annual individual performance development review.
You will work closely with the Pharmacists and wider multidisciplinary team within the Emergency Department to deliver high quality, patient focused medicines management services.
