We have a non-executive director role available, due to tenures of our current colleagues coming to an end. We are looking for applicants with the following experience and location due to the tenure of the Board. A Governor NED from either the Wirral or CW&C Council areas Edsential operates as a Community Interest Company, jointly owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council and Wirral Council, aimed at providing essential services within the education sector. Our mission is to improve outcomes for children and young people within our locality. Our unique structure combines a private-sector leadership approach with a public-sector commitment—this allows us to compete effectively in the market while directly channelling any surplus into our services or supporting school-based projects. We are independent of our stakeholders and serve all schools and institutions, regardless of governance structure (Maintained, Academy, Free School, and Independent Sector). If you would like to help facilitate improving the outcomes for children and young people then please apply to join us as a Non-Executive Director (NED). You will be expected to attend monthly board meetings and may be asked to participate in sub-group meetings. You will be an ambassador for the company and may represent Edsential at stakeholder meetings. As a NED you will have responsibility for statutory duties: Ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations. Ensure that the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document. Ensure that the organisation uses its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects. Ensure that the best interests of the Company are served at all times. Contribute actively to the Board of Directors’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets. Safeguard the good name and values of the organisation. Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation. Ensure the prudent financial management of the organisation. You will receive £6,000 per annum as a NED director and the tenure is for 3 years.
