Main duties of the job
The Medical Receptionist plays a key role as a member of the team in providing efficient, helpful and sympathetic care to the practice patients and developing skills in equating practice protocol with patient demands. Through sensible use of initiative, a flexible approach, and working to consistent high standards of accuracy, he/she will provide valuable help and support to the partners and all colleagues in the team. You will be expected to manage, plan, and prioritise tasks efficiently and effectively to achieve and maintain a high standard of patient care.
About us
The GP Suite is a small GP Practice based in Jarrow with a patient population of approximately 4550 patients. Our team consists of three GP Partners, two Advanced Clinical Practitioners, two Practice Nurses, and one nurse associate. Our clinicians are closely supported by an excellent Administration/Reception and management team. We strive to deliver the highest standard of patient care and maintain good working relationships with external services.
Job responsibilities
* Appointment Scheduling - manage and coordinate patient appointments using the practice's clinical system; EMIS Web
* Phone Management - handling incoming calls, addressing patient queries, providing information and directing calls appropriately
* Administrative Duties - perform various administrative tasks, including updating patient records, processing paperwork, and prescription requests
* Communication - serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and clinical staff, ensuring clear and effective communication
* Problem Solving - address and resolve patient concerns and issues promptly and courteously
(must be available for overtime when required, for example, covering colleague sickness and annual leave)
