University Hospitals Sussex is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic midwife to join our team as a band 7 Antenatal and Newborn Screening Midwife. If you are an NMC registered midwife who has an NMC PIN Number and would like to make a difference to women and their families, then we would like to hear from you. The post holder will continue to develop their leadership skills by enhancing both professional and personal development. By joining our team you will have the opportunity to bring your wealth of knowledge and experience to our maternity service and play a key role in supporting staff and improving care provided.
The post holder will be responsible for managing the antenatal and newborn screening team at Worthing and Saint Richards Hospitals, UH Sussex and must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, professionalism, managerial skills, change management skills and extensive knowledge in the area of antenatal and newborn screening.
The post holder must be able to provide a visible and clinical presence within their area of responsibility and demonstrate advanced midwifery clinical expertise, with extensive knowledge of national policy, standards and frameworks.
This will be a job share with our current screening co-ordinator.
Main duties of the job
Work in accordance with the NMC's rules and code of conduct for midwives.
To be responsible for the provision of high quality, woman centred antenatal and newborn screening service for the Trust, in line with the national Screening Committee standards.
To act as a specialist in the field of antenatal and newborn screening, assisting and advising other health professionals in the management of the screening pathways.
To work with the multidisciplinary team to continually monitor the screening pathways, identify areas for improvement, and support staff in this process.

Job responsibilities
The midwife for Antenatal and Newborn Screening will lead the Worthing and Chichester team in delivering the antenatal and newborn screening programme, ensuring the service is conducive to delivering high quality care and acknowledging the diverse needs of women and their babies.
They will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support to the clinical teams so that maternal and fetal screening pathways and systems are in line with the National Screening Committee (NSC) standards.
They will action, implement and monitor the quality assurance of all the Screening Programmes ensuring that appropriate failsafe systems are in place, confirming that all population screening is undertaken to the highest standard. They will provide regular formal updates on the performance of the Screening Programmes to the screening commissioners at NHS England.
