The Role
Based in our Support Office in Malvern, and reporting to the Head of Finance, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team to help drive our financial strategy and support business growth.
As Finance Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations for the Austin Group brands, managing the finance team and ensuring accurate financial planning and analysis. This role is crucial for strategic decision-making, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will play a key role in driving efficiency and effectiveness within our finance department, supporting stakeholders across both internal teams and external partnerships. This role would be suitable for an accountant looking to transition to their first industry position.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Financial Reporting: Oversee the monthly account preparation by the finance team, ensuring accuracy, adequate controls, and timeliness.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis: Collaborate with the Head of Finance on the annual budgeting process and analyse/investigate monthly account variances.
3. Compliance: Manage year-end tax compliance, oversee the sales audit, and review BAS, FBT reporting, Payroll Tax, Workcover renewals.
4. Wholesale Business Partnering: Support GAZMAN and Cable Wholesale Manager’s with financial queries, maintaining strong debtor management.
5. Accounts Payable: Manage two Accounts Payable team members, and become a master user of Medius AP software, ensuring smooth processing and automation.
6. Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to foster a positive and productive work environment.
7. Strategic Support: Assist the Executive Management Team on various strategic initiatives and provide support on special projects.
8. Additional Duties: Assist Head of Finance in supporting the remaining members of the finance team as and when required, including insurance, property, banking and other group matters.
What are we looking for?
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, CPA or CA qualification.
2. Previous experience in a Retail industry role or a Big 4 or mid-tier accountant.
3. An achiever who sets high standards.
4. A methodical and structured approach to work with excellent time management skills.
5. Ability to mentor and coach various teams within the finance department.
6. Strong stakeholder management with proven ability to influence and communicate at all levels.
7. Highly organised to meet schedules and timeframes.
8. Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills with a high level of Excel proficiency.
9. Motivated and outcome focused.
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
11. Strong attention to detail.
12. Positive and proactive ‘can do’ attitude.
