Job Description Purpose of the role To manage the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial reporting. Accountabilities Management of the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, and other accounting records in accordance with the relevant accounting standards, rules and regulations. Support in identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial risks, and report on these financial risks to senior colleagues. Development and maintenance of a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure that there is no fraudulent misreporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial data, including regular assessment of the effectiveness of internal controls addressing any weaknesses or gaps.. Development and implementation of up-to-date financial policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective financial practices across the organisation. Management of the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software applications, including collaboration with IT colleagues to integrate financial systems with other enterprise systems. Preparation and submission of statutory and regulatory reports to authorities, and provision of support to other departments in their preparation and review of regulatory reports. Coordination with external auditors and regulatory authorities in support of audits and examinations. Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda. Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy. As an External Reporting AVP working within our subsidiary reporting team you will be responsible for the coordination and production of the subsidiary Annual Reports for BBUK PLC and BBPLC. This role supports their VP in coordinating across FTCs to produce high quality external output within strict time frames, communicating key updates to senior stakeholders and liaising with external auditors. It is a challenging but rewarding role where you will be able to see the direct impact you have on Barclays’ external reports. This position requires an analytical mind, willing to challenge the status quo and bring efficiencies to processes. Working with multiple stakeholders to assess, document and conclude on reporting related items. The role is key to the successful production of our Annual Reports and various other externally reported disclosures. The ideal candidate will have experience with the Barclays Group consolidation, a sound understanding of balance sheet drivers as well as the confidence to work across teams to resolve problems and communicate timelines.
