Learning Support Assistant - Land and Animal Science (Part-Time, Reduced Year)
About the Role
This is a part-time, reduced-year role: 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.
We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team; the successful candidate will support theory and practical sessions on-site at Temple Newsam, and there may also be some requirements to support animal care/horticulture lessons at our Printworks campus.
What You Will Do
* Providing targeted academic support to meet identified need of students.
* Providing curriculum teachers/assessors with verbal reports on student progress.
* May be involved in students' transport arrangements and providing physical support for accessibility including the use of wheelchairs.
* At the direction of the teacher/assessor, accompanying small groups of students on short local excursions or supporting students in a workshop or work placement setting.
* Assist with occasional personal care requirements if necessary.
About You
* Educated to Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or a commitment to achieving this within one year of appointment.
* L2 Support Practitioners Qualification or willing to work towards.
* Experience of working in a team in an educational setting.
* Computer literate and able to use a range of on-line learning packages such as Google classroom.
* Understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act is essential.
