• Specimen Management:Receipt, storage, and redistribution of specimens, including disposal according to standard operating procedures.
• Technical Processes:Perform sample processing, including microtomy, staining, and diagnostic cytology preparation. Assist in immunocytochemistry and dissection processes.
• Quality Assurance:Maintain and clean equipment, manage stock control, and adhere to quality control processes and audits.
• Laboratory Support:Engage in technical activities such as embedding, staining, special stains, filing slides and blocks, and processing samples via laboratory IT systems.
Daily Activities Include:
• Preparation of samples for biomedical scientists.
• Microtomy, embedding, and staining.
• Assisting with immunocytochemistry and special stains.
• Performing technical non-gynae cytology work.
• Ensuring the lab runs efficiently through meticulous computer work and stock management.
