Awareness of GenAI technology has exploded over the last 12 months. At Pencil we’ve been at the forefront of helping large and small businesses adopt the technology and see results. We’ve grown from less than 20 to a team of almost 120 in that time, and it’s crucial we continue to hire fantastic people while creating a culture in which they can thrive. Our mission is to make AI the default in advertising without replacing creative people. We’re looking for an ambitious Head of People who will ensure that this mission pervades our hiring, culture and people management activities. Done well, you should directly contribute to our company’s performance and achievement of its mission in your day-to-day. This comes with a few exciting challenges. We’re a remote company with a really diverse set of employees and contractors across a wide range of countries - robust administration is important. We’re a product business with lots of engineers which insists on having our own creative studio in-house so we can stay close to our users - profiles and processes vary. We’re also part of a large multinational holding company with plans to IPO - we need to move like a small company while thinking like a big one. You will need a strong working knowledge of global HR best practices and a passion for coaching and motivating diverse people in a mission-driven startup environment to perform at their best. Doing this successfully will help us create positivity and impact between AI and people both inside the company and across the advertising industry, as well as make you one of the leading voices of the GenAI revolution. Your day-to-day Working with hiring managers to bring the best possible talent into our company - by developing tools, partners, pipelines, processes and templates and by direct involvement in interviewing Creating, maintaining and reporting on culture initiatives such as 1:1s, 360 feedback, professional development, in-person meetups and our Slack community Leading coordination and compliance for performance management across teams, including best practices, measurement and intervention Working with company/group finance/HR teams - as well as our HR vendors - to ensure the administrative side of our global people management is rigorous, safe and principled Ensuring we stay ahead of our industry on important goals and milestones linked to DEI Have 7 years in HR for high performance teams and/or high growth businesses Experience managing HR in fully remote organizations A track record of innovative thinking in achieving great company culture Direct experience leading recruitment initiatives at the 50 hire scale Direct experience driving company performance through people management Experience working directly with finance and executive leaders Your KPIs will be linked to the following: How quickly role openings are filled and with what calibre of talent How our company scores on our employee satisfaction surveys How our people in aggregate score on 360 feedback and performance reviews Auditor results in the robustness of our global HR processes and documentation Opportunity to work at the cutting edge of GenAI for the Fortune 500 Sponsored professional and personal learning Top-end Apple hardware Flexible vacation/time-off policy Competitive health insurance and welfare cover Fully remote work incl.
