SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Oxford
Salary: £20,000 - £22,500 per annum (dependent on experience)
Start Date: As soon as possible
About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team working with our Client Secondary Schools across the Oxford area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on the education and development of students with special educational needs (SEN). The role will involve working closely with teachers and other professionals to support students in accessing the curriculum, ensuring they have the best possible learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN.
* Assist students in overcoming barriers to learning, enabling them to access the curriculum and engage fully with lessons.
* Work closely with teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
* Help with the delivery of specific interventions and support in classroom activities.
* Assist with the use of adaptive technology and resources to support learning.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and valued.
* Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
* Support students’ social and emotional development, providing guidance and encouragement as needed.
Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will be someone who is patient, adaptable, and has a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs. You should be able to work effectively as part of a team, communicate well with students and staff, and have a strong commitment to safeguarding. Previous experience working with students with SEN, especially in a school setting, would be an advantage but not essential, as training will be provided.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
* A passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
* A commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity.
* Knowledge of SEN and relevant support strategies is desirable but not essential.
