The Distribution & Plant team for Scotlands Railway look after equipment across some of the busiest parts of the network between Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as some of the most scenic parts which includes the Banavie swing bridge in Fort William, West Highland line and Highland Main line. This team keeps power flowing through the electrified line safely and efficiently. The team work on the electrification system to make sure that the railway has the power to run the trains, signals and stations as well as maintaining fixed generators, UPS systems and fixed pumps. This role offers significant responsibility within the engineering team, focusing on the maintenance of Fixed Plant and Distribution equipment. Youll play a key part in managing and developing a large maintenance team, driving safety and efficiency across a variety of projects. Please note this vacancy is a 6 month secondment/ FTC opportunity.About the role (External) The successful candidate will support with the management and direction of the Technical Support Team, whilst providing support to the wider D&P team through engaging with our supply chain partners and projects teams. This may include working nights and weekends as well as on-call. The role is varied in nature, managing compliance, safety and performance of the teams and the asset itself across Scotland Route. Here are some of the duties your role will include: - · Manage and direct the Technical Support team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures. · Manage development of individuals and the engagement of the team. · Manage the arrangements for staff safety and competence. · Monitor asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency. · Provide technical guidance and support. · Undertake survey and design work. · Manage the assurance and non compliance process within the delivery unit. · Undertake technical inspections and investigations. · Provide local requirements to arrange track monitoring trains and receive outputs. · Maintain the accuracy of systems, databases and records. · Review and approve method statements and/or plans for design and/or work activities as required. · Undertake an agreed programme of staff surveillance, work quality and asset condition checks.
