We are currently looking for a Deputy Headteacher – Quality of Education for our Aurora Hedgeway School. The school supports young people aged 7 - 19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs. The role: We are looking for an inspirational and engaging Deputy Headteacher who shares our commitment and vision in providing an ambitious and therapeutic, person-centred learning environment for our students. Working collaboratively with the Headteacher, you will have knowledge, experience, and interpersonal skills to develop our school in accordance with our shared values and development plans. You will also lead manage and deputise for the Headteacher on site and off site as and when required as well as occasionally carrying out the professional duties of a class teacher as required. Key Duties: Work with the Head Teacher to ensure that the aims, values and objectives of the school are achieved through an effective School Development Plan. Develop a clear knowledge of the administrative and financial matters of the school and to support the School Business Manager in monitoring the capital and operational expenditure Support the Head Teacher in the evaluation of the School Development Plan. Ensure that all staff adhere to national standards and regulation. Carry out staff appraisals as designated by the Head Ensure appropriate opportunities for staff induction and to work with other designated staff to ensure opportunities for continuous professional development are in place. With the Head Teacher, to share responsibility for Progress meeting and interventions for of all pupils. Maintain an agreed teaching commitment. Show evidence of at least 5 years successful proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within the special needs environment. Experience of teaching in a specialist ASD/SEMH Environment. Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and experience of turning policy into effective and successful practice. Experience of working with and developing links with the community Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
