Site Supervisor (Structures & Landscape)

Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting for a supervisor to work for a large overseas contractor on the new Velindre Cancer Centre on a permanent contract.
Role Purpose:
The role of the Site Supervisor Structures & Landscape will report to the project's Works Manager. The role holder will be responsible for coordinating construction operations and overseeing workers within their package of works, ensuring the day-to-day running of their works package is conducted safely in accordance with the latest drawings, specifications, and programme.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Engage with the workforce, supply chain, and other stakeholders to assist in achieving both the project's and corporate health and safety targets and objectives.
2. Follow instructions from the Works Manager and report to him.
3. Prepare and provide work permits for daily tasks that may require it.
4. Ensure that those employed on their work packages have the requisite levels of competency to undertake their roles and tasks.
5. Lead supervisory meetings and forums for their own work packages, keeping their workforce and supply chain updated with current information and requirements.
6. Provide feedback from workforce and supply chain to the project's leadership.
7. Ensure that their work packages are conducted in accordance with the Company's procedures and standards, and that safe systems of work are produced and approved prior to starting work.
8. Manage the use of appropriate plant, tools, and equipment, ensuring that it is fit for purpose and inspected, maintained, and quarantined as appropriate.
9. Manage the supply chain within their work packages on a daily basis, coordinating their works and interfaces.
10. Ensure that emergency response resources are readily available and that workers understand the requirements of the emergency plans.
11. Ensure that all incidents are reported appropriately, assist with incident investigations, and preserve environments, locations, or evidence that may be needed for incident investigation.
Essential Criteria:
1. Minimum experience of 5 years in a similar role;
2. CSCS card - Supervisor (Gold) or Manager (Black)
3. CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection card (if inspecting Basic Scaffolding)
4. CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification if involved with supervising Temporary Works;
5. CITB Temporary Works Supervisor qualification
6. Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the work they are being appointed to supervise (e.g., earth support, scaffolding, formwork, falsework, etc).
7. If involved with supervising Lifting Operations: CPCS or NPORS Crane/Lifting Supervisor card
8. Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the lifting operations they are being appointed to supervise (basic, intermediate, or complex lifts with tower cranes, mobile cranes, or non-cranes (excavators, telehandlers, hoists, MEWPs, etc)).
9. Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the plant and equipment operations they are being appointed to supervise if involved with supervising plant and vehicle movements.
10. Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the types of works at height they are being appointed to supervise (e.g., on or from scaffolding, hoists, towers, low-level platforms, rope access, etc).
In addition to the above:
1. Ability to assume responsibilities for decision making on site
2. Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills
3. Knowledge of the relevant structures and civil engineering statutory procedures with particular reference to Health and Safety
4. Proficient with MS Office, in particular Excel.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering or equivalent
2. Knowledge of the Spanish and/or Portuguese Language.
3. Knowledge of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
