How would you like to work in the engine room of the world's longest-running continuing drama?
Coronation Street is looking for an experienced Senior Storyliner to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract. You will need to have a keen passion for Corrie, a flair for creative writing and love working in a tight knit team.
The role
You will work alongside the Story Producer in developing and producing creative and dynamic Coronation Street storylines. You will also liaise with the Series Producers and Story Producer to ensure creative coherence between story and script departments.
Role Responsibilities
* Contribute ideas to story conferences and story talk throughs.
* Create and structure dynamic and compelling storylines.
* Work to the Producers brief, writing and editing storylines to an agreed vision.
* Plot and write the big stories in each block.
* Liaise with writers/researchers/script editors as and when required.
* Assess cast availability and production requirements in accordance with producing storylines.
* Take on duties of the Story Editor when holiday cover is needed.
* Occasionally lead talk-throughs of stories with the storyliners.
* Work with and incorporate feedback from senior producers.
Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)...
* Minimum of 12 months' experience in storylining for a drama production, or a demonstrable track record of writing for television.
* Proven ability to develop original storyline ideas and craft compelling pitches.
* Meticulous attention to detail, with a proven ability to maintain continuity and consistency across complex, evolving storylines.
* A genuine passion for and deep knowledge of Coronation Street and its characters.
* Experience working within a continuing drama (minimum of 1 years experience), demonstrating the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment under tight deadlines.
* Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring creative teams, with a particular focus on leading a story team and providing constructive feedback.
* Proven experience of creativity and developing original ideas.
* Experience in story editing, with a keen eye for detail and narrative flow.
* Practical knowledge and understanding of television production, including the ability to work within production constraints and limitations.
* Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging episodes that adhere to the Coronation Street house style.
* Solid grasp of English language, including grammar and punctuation.

* Demonstrated ability to translate broad story concepts into detailed and compelling storylines.
* Demonstrated editorial responsibility for storylines, ensuring narrative consistency and quality.
* Excellent writing skills, with a strong command of narrative structure and character development.
* Ability to manage time effectively, proactively anticipate potential challenges, and handle changing priorities.
* Demonstrated ability to motivate, nurture, and develop the story team, providing constructive feedback and support.
* Proven ability to meet changing and constant deadlines while maintaining high creative standards.
* Confidence and skill in pitching and developing compelling story ideas in conference settings.
