Job Purpose:
I am seeking a Proving Test Technician who will be responsible for both the mechanical and electrical aspects of powertrain integration, shake-down, and testing. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact projects and advance your career within a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Adhere to health and safety policies and safe working practices.

* Follow documented procedures to ensure safe and defect-free assembly of parts and components using hand, power tools, and lifting equipment.
* Install prototype, pilot, and production powertrains into various machines as per engineering instructions.
* Operate a range of off-highway vehicles including Hydraulic Excavators, Back-hoe Loaders, Telehandlers, and Track Type Tractors.
* Instrument powertrain installations with sensors such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, and speed pickups.
* Diagnose and repair faults in both powertrains and machines.
* Read and work from electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic engineering drawings.
* Manufacture parts using in-house facilities including machining, welding, and fabrication.
* Produce electrical looms for interfacing powertrains and machines.
* Travel to various test and development facilities, both client-owned and third-party, including some overseas locations.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work area in line with 5S and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) standards.
* Undertake necessary training and further learning as required.
Skills and Experience:
* Solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic systems, with a good working knowledge of powertrains and machines.
* Strong team collaboration skills to achieve shared objectives.
* Working knowledge of instrumentation and its application.
* Effective communication skills for liaising across various organisational levels.
* Flexible approach to job roles and responsibilities.
* Proficiency in using hand/power tools, lifting, and welding equipment.
* Willingness to undertake necessary training and learning.
* Ideally, candidates will have an engineering or motor mechanics apprenticeship and relevant work experience.
* Working towards or completed NVQ Level 3 or equivalent higher education.
* Good PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAT-designed software.
Desirable Experience/Skills:
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
* Previous experience in maintenance and repair of off-highway vehicles and/or large goods vehicles.
* Good understanding of core electrical principles.
