With OCU progressing on our Journey of Growth, we are seeking a Senior Civils Manager to join our team in Iver. This pivotal role involves overseeing civil engineering projects from planning to completion, ensuring safety, timeliness, budget adherence, and quality standards. The Senior Civils Manager will lead the project team, manage resources effectively, and collaborate with clients and stakeholders to achieve project goals
Duties and Responsibilities
* Plan, manage, and coordinate civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
* Develop project strategies, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders.
* Monitor project progress and performance against established plans.
* Lead and manage a team of engineers, site managers, subcontractors, and support staff.
* Assign tasks, set priorities, and provide guidance and support to team members.
* Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
* Ensure that all work meets required quality standards and regulatory requirements.
* Implement quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections and audits.
* Address any non-conformities and take corrective actions as necessary.
* Promote and maintain a strong health, safety, and environmental culture on site.
* Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and company policies.
* Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and resolve issues.
* Provide regular project updates and reports to stakeholders as required.
* Monitor project costs and expenditures against approved budgets.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage financial resources effectively.
* Prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior management review.
* Administer contracts, including tendering processes, negotiation, and contract management.
* Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and disputes are resolved promptly.
* Manage variations and claims in accordance with contract terms.
Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Senior Civils Manager, Leading a team of 5 direct reports and in excess of 30 teams
* Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
* Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.
* Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively.
* Commercial acumen and experience in contract management and cost control.
* Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
