Leasowes High School is seeking an inspirational and dynamic Head of English to lead our vibrant and high-achieving English department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious educator to make a significant impact on the learning and progress of our students.
About the Role
As Head of English, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of dedicated teachers, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages. You will play a key role in shaping the English curriculum, driving academic excellence, and fostering a love of literature and language among our students.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide strategic leadership and management of the English department.
· Drive curriculum innovation and ensure engaging and challenging learning experiences for all students.
· Support and develop teaching staff, promoting high-quality teaching and learning.
· Monitor student progress and implement effective interventions to ensure outstanding outcomes.
· Foster a culture of excellence, enthusiasm, and creativity in English education.
· Work collaboratively with senior leadership and other departments to enhance whole-school literacy.
Person Specification
We are looking for an exceptional teacher and leader who:
· Is an experienced and outstanding practitioner with a proven track record of success in teaching English.
· Has experience in leading and developing a team.
· Is passionate about English education and committed to fostering a love of reading and writing.
· Has a deep understanding of the curriculum, assessment, and pedagogical strategies to maximise student achievement.
· Possesses excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
· Is dedicated to continuous improvement and professional development.
