This highly specialist job provides clinical leadership and psychological health services for patients within care pathways for children, young people and adults with Differences in Sex Development. Service development, multidisciplinary team support, psychosocial team leadership, regional and national representation and coordination are all part of the legacy of this role. Contribution to multiple medical and surgical clinical teams along with divisional responsibilities delegated by the Consultant Psychologist make this a varied and valued leadership role for a clinical subject specialist.
Main duties of the job
1. Via coordination, clinical care, leadership, and improvement to ensure the systematic provision of psychology services within the scope of this highly specialist post. To provide training, clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist within clinical specialties within the scope of this post, and for wider Psychological Health Services. To undertake, coordinate and supervise psychological research, service evaluation and audit activity both uni-professionally and in collaboration with other professional groups within the remit of this post.
2. To provide day-to-day management and professional supervision of staff employed within Psychological Health Services and to provide duties delegated by the Consultant Psychologist.

Qualifications
* Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling psychology or equivalent
* Current registration as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council
* Training in the supervision of trainee clinical psychologists / other staff
* Management/leadership training (D)
* Trauma Informed Care Training
Experience
* Post qualification experience of working as a specialist practitioner psychologist in healthcare of people with Differences in Sex Development and specialist services providing direct clinical work, psychological consultation, patient involvement, case management supervision and training to a range of multi-professional and multi-agency teams in this specialist area (CYP DSD)
* Post qualification experience of working as a specialist practitioner psychologist undertaking consultation and service development in the area of
* Experience working with health and social care teams either in the context of providing supervision, reflective practice or team development work
* Demonstrable knowledge of legislation and guidance pertaining to safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, consent, confidentiality and standards of psychological care within relevant guidance
* Experience of proposing and contributing to the implementation of service development projects
* Record of publications in either peer-reviewed, academic or professional journals/books
* Theoretical knowledge of the evidence base for the relevant treatment relevant to CYP who have experienced DSD
* Post qualification experience of working as a specialist practitioner psychologist in healthcare of people with Differences in Sex Development and specialist services providing direct clinical work, psychological consultation, patient involvement, case management supervision and training to a range of multi-professional and multi-agency teams in this specialist area (CYP DSD) with Adults with DSD
* Theoretical knowledge of the evidence base for the relevant treatment relevant to CYP who have experienced DSD (E) with adults who have experienced DSD. (D)

* Advanced communication skills. The ability to provide and receive highly complex and sensitive information to and from staff and organisations in a culturally appropriate manner in highly emotive situations
Skills
* Ability to generate systemic and individual psychological formulations and triage/deliver brief interventions based on applying psychological theories and models to the complex information generated by the patient and systems as appropriate
* Ability to provide and receive highly complex and sensitive information to and from patients and their families in a developmentally and culturally appropriate manner in highly emotive situations. This will include the ability to provide complex psychological information to staff in an accessible manner
* Ability to access, record and manage information and data pertaining to the work undertaken in notes, databases and electronic records as required
